After being stuck in fog for a couple of days, the sky finally cleared during our last night above 5000m and gave us the most beautiful morning so far. Temperatures went below zero for the first time, announcing Nepal’s fantastic autumn with its magnificient views above the clouds.
Unfortunately, we are now already on our way back. After leaving our high camp below the Naguru peaks, we have set up camp again in Phu. Life has returned to the village after a huge burial ceremony for an old inhabitant last week. Jonas is making his last interviews concerning yak pastoralism. Hannes and Dawa went off to Himlung (7128m) base camp, trying to get some good views on the nearby glaciers for some comparative work.
Lars is spending the day in Phu’s monastery and Nils and Fabian are again climbing nearby ridges to find a good place to upload Trail of Change Episode #4.
This concludes the first part of this year’s Trail of Change expedition. We are now heading back into no-internet territory for a couple of days.
The group will part during the weekend in Koto. Patty, Lars and Fabian are heading back to Kathmandu. Jonas is continuing the Annapurna Circuit on his own. Nils and Hannes are going to make themselves a comfy home at Manaslu basecamp, where the second part of Trail of Change will take place. So stay tuned!
